We believe that increasing contact between youths of the different European countries is an important task, whose significance will grow in the future. And here, the International Youth Forum is an excellent method for bringing young people from different countries together.

20-5-2003
Last week, we had some problems with inserting messages into the forum: all messages got lost :-((
But josto (the crazy computer freak from Ferrara) solved it. So today we repeated the work - but we have been only 5 persons, because many others have school-test tomorrow. We deceided, that in the next two weeks, when Lutz is on holiday, we´ll continue the work and Moritz will help with the website.
Bünny, Pia and Marcus started a diskussion in their class about the question, what to do with an 16 year old boy, who didn´t want to learn and get kicked out of school without any qualification. The teacher, Mr. Frank Hortig, wants to continue the diskussion in the class on the themes of the EYF. Next week, a second class (grammar school) perhaps will take part.

Today we got two new paticipants >>> Maria & Tobbi <<< so all together we are now 17 young people. Six of us will come to Ferrara in September.
During our meeting today we have been working on Questions for the forums and started to generate polls for some of the questions. In the background we are looking for some more information relating to the themes. Soon you will find them on our page.
06-5-2003
Nina, Gerlinde, Pia, Bünny and Marcus are joining our group now - welcome!! Today we finally formed the groups for the four themes and started the discussion. Beside we worked on the content our personal pages. We think, it could be very interesting, if each participants of the forum could publish some fotos of their personal room or the daily life.

We have some trouble to get 8 participants for the september-forum, because just at this date, several young people will be on a school-study-trip to Berlin. We have to find some more participants in our group ... // There was no much work today, because many of the group couldn´t come today. But we have now Tobias as a new group-member :-))

We discussed the ideas and topics at our 5th meeting at the beginning of April. During this the last three meetings, our group went from 12 to 9 participants, because three youths didn’t have enough time for continual participation in the group. The remaining members of the group showed an increased readiness towards “thinking European” as well as greater involvement in the project.
At our 4th meeting in the middle of March, we further developed our ideas for the presentation of our group. Our topics and ideas for the September Forum
We had a bit of difficulty in the beginning because we only had an idea of how things could be, but no concrete method or starting point to motivate the youngsters. So we started to reflect on what these topics mean for the young people in Kaufbeuren and looked forward to getting more information about the virtual forum.
After a general discussion about a European future at our second meeting, each member of the group chose a topic of their own interest and we decided to discuss these topics one by one with the whole group. Initial ideas on how to present the Kaufbeuren Group in the virtual forum were also discussed. Slowly we got involved in the idea of the youth forum. A big help was the introduction of the virtual forum. Now we could actually participate in the forum and our motivation increased significantly.
At this first meeting, we got an introduction about the Youth Forum Project scheduled for September and the cities involved in the project, and we had an initial discussion about the main topics extracted from the European Commission White Book relating to the situation in the city of Kaufbeuren. These are:
Politics and Participation
Schooling, Job Training and Work
Social Situation
European Values
International Movement
During December and January we laid out some guidelines for managing the group, attracted young adults aged 16 to 22 years and formed a group at the end of January of this year.
At the end of November last year, we contacted youth organisations and the principals of grammar schools in Kaufbeuren and invited them to a meeting in the town hall to introduce them to the International Youth Forum. Five pupils from the 2 grammar schools also took part.
