The council of Oeiras is located in the Metropolitan Area of Lisbon and confines with the civil parishes of Lisboa, Cascais, Sintra and Amadora.
Located close to the north border of the river Tagus, with a remarkable landscape, Oeiras, currently with over 160.000 unhabitants, has great historical traditions, with remnants that go back to the prehistory.
In the 18th century, the action of the Marquis de Pombal made possible the creation of the village of Oeiras and its ascension to council, which brought fame and prestige to the region.
Oeiras still has its well marked cultural, landscape and environmental characteristics.
With a remarkable historic patrimony, of wish stands out the Palace of the Marquis de Pombal, the Fort of S. Julião da Barra and the already recovered area occupied by the former Powder Factory of Barcarena, Oeiras entered the 21 st century as one of the councils in greater evolution, both in what concerns the environment and the green spaces, and in what concerns the quality of life in general.
Being the biggest scientific and technological centre of the country and together with a cultural activity more and more diversified and cosmopolitan, Oeiras is now one of the most developped councils in this country and more than ever, a council which deserves to be known and visited.

Hi there!!! My name’s Inês, I’m 19 years old and I’m a student from Oeiras. Lately, I have experienced a few changes in my life which have helped me to grow as a human being… About myself: I’ve always been an introspective person though I love to meet new people and learn about their cultural/personal habits and thoughts. In my opinion, the complex human mind is really interesting and I’m usually delighted to explore its aspects… I study science’s subjects at school though I’ve now suspended my course (Medicine) since I’m starting a different one next year (Biology) and I’m waiting for the “exams’ time”. I’ve been working at a nursery school (thanks to the Oeiras’ youth centre!) and hope to continue since it is a non formal way of getting in contact with the labourer world and learning new things about how to live in a society!I love music; I live music! I love to know musical instruments and their cultural background; I think they tell a lot about the traditions of a region. I give a few chords on the guitar and would like to learn to play drums. I have a wide range of musical tastes… usually, I don’t even know what I’m listening to but most of the times my radio plays alternative/rock music… I love Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Cake, Bob Marley, Ben Harper, Bob Dylan, etc…I also like to read. I like novels, adventure books, fantastic stories… I do love poetry and medieval works in dramatic art. My favourite authors are specially the Portuguese ones (Camões and Fernando Pessoa, for example) though I read many foreign pieces.I like going out, dancing, going to pubs and have a nice drink while having an interesting conversation. I love to laugh and I hate hypocrisy and “previous-judgement” behaviour! Yet, I do not like pessimistic persons (although I am one, sometimes!) and hate the excessive laziness. The characteristics I admire most are generosity, solidarity, enterprising spirit, loyalty and the “capacity of having fun”!I love volleyball and physical activity has always been present in my life!I will expose my points of view about some themes and contemporary aspects of the European societies at the forum… if you like, please tell me your opinion!Inês, Oeiras

Hi, my name’s Fátima, i’m 19 years old and i live in Outurela.I’m daugther of caboverdeans fathers.
As an african i love to dance and beeing with my friends, and i hate to see injustice, it brekes my heart seeing a child beeing mistreated i can’t understand whow could it be possible but that’s reality, not everithing is as a wish for.
In the past i was a person with many many friends but howadays sometthing changed and know i can tell that i’m a person just with a few but good friends, i can never betraye a friend i also can’t understand how can some people do it. I think that for my friends it seems like i am a person full of joy and happinass but when i’m sad they all can see it because i change in a way that i can explain my smile ends and it can only be seen two sad yes saying that everithing is ok butr anying inside, but that few good friend can understand when i’m passing for that raining days even when they don’t tell me nathing i know that they understand.
One of my mejor dillema is try to get into the mind of some person’s and understand why they act in some way or other, it there’s a problem, some trauma or it they simply like to hunt themselves and those who surrand them, every singmay is important the way that some people look at you can show you a litle of they personality and what goes in their mind, all that make be a good way, to try to understand human mind. That’s why i won’t to go to pshicology, study and easily discribe the many steps that every human mind goes to in arder to help many people that the society think that are simple agressive and mean but don’t know that are a big issue that became that people kike that.
That’s me fátima. A dinamic young girl, that very ofter mis understood by many.
